Many people have asked me why I have a whole board dedicated to old barns. They are just a bunch of decaying buildings fallen down, and isn’t it true that only farmers give a crap about barns to begin with? Well, most of them on my board are old decaying buildings but no it is not true that only farmers care. Perhaps growing up on a farm does have something to do with the fact that I like old barns, that country, secure, home feel of it all, but that is not why I started this board.I started this board because I could see in these barns something of humanity needing to create and provide for one another.
The barn to me symbolizes our need to advance and create but also is connected with our simple need of agriculture, where we plant and we cultivate and we provide for one another out of our bounty.I think that is something we can all understand and cherish even if we can’t look at an old barn and see that.Plus these barns are so beautiful even as they fade back into ashes and dust, they still cling onto some rare aspect of beauty that we can’t really pinpoint with our minds and language boundaries. These barns latch onto nature and begin to go back to it, yet we can still see them, as far from nature as we have distanced ourselves, we can still see these magnificent creations and appreciate them for the art that they are.I hope that you check my board out and see for yourself the beauty that is in these structures because that is what it is all about. Life itself is about constantly seeking for the beauty. And that is why I made this board.
