Excruciatingly alive #1

I run until my lungs burn,

scream until they burst,

weep until they regenerate.

 To know

what it is

to be excruciatingly alive.

to breathe in pain

and bleed out agony.

The surface–earth–my skin–

fear upon fear

that propels nothing more than fear.

The manifestation of manifestation

manifesting itself in the labyrinth.

To exist is  caustic,

the corroding of a brittle question mark,

pang after reverberating pang

from the epicentre of a sizzling atmosphere,

pungent, fumigated air of uncertainty.

Spin into me,

blurred wisdom,

a reflection of the reflection

of a million mirrored reflections

reflecting one another

in the mirrored reflection

of my baby blue eyes,

clouded–

the weight of the world hides away there,

they know

what it is

to be

excruciatingly alive.

This is another one of my favourite poems I have ever written. So I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

” Me and the pen, we are one. If its ink would cease to flow, my ink would cease to flow.”

Sick

I stood to stare at my reflection in the mirror

but even she was not there;

run away to another place,

to a banquet that would curl itself in the hollow of my stomach,

she left me alone with wobbly knees and the disinfecting smell of bleach.

I sat to wipe away the fuzzy darkness

that had  wrapped itself around me;

I fell, crawling across the carpet

to give up the dry bread I had slowly eaten. Hollow stomach.

The warmth made night return, I fainted into the disinfecting smell of bleach.

-Eva M.M.

-I guess this is what happens we you are sick. When you finally have enough energy to type you write a poem about losing your dinner and lunch. Wonderful, right? Well, thanks for reading, I really did try not to make this a gross sick poem.

” Me and the pen, we are one. If its ink would cease to flow,my ink would cease to flow.”

Song Anaylsis ” Mrs. Potato Head” By: Melanie Martinez

download

I wanted Melanie to go way further then she did on the voice, because I loved her voice, her style and her talent. When I found out she still ended up with a wonderful album I had to check it out right away.I instantly fell in love with all of the songs on the album ,( So you ought to check it out), but “Mrs. Potato Head” was probably one of my favorites out of them all.In the lyrics below I have shared my thoughts about the song with you. hope you enjoy.

Mrs. Potato Head”

If you weren’t born with it
You can buy a couple ornaments
Just be sure to read the warning, kids
Cause pretty soon you’ll be bored of it
Sexual, hey girl if you wanna feel sexual
You can always call up a professional
They stick pins in you like a vegetable

Kids forever, kids forever
Baby soft skin turns into leather
Don’t be dramatic it’s only some plastic
No one will love you if you’re unattractive

This songs message is quite obvious, about how nobody is ever happy with how they look but that is not a problem, right? Because nowadays we have plastic surgery and every kind of operation you could imagine to make you look like the dream Barbie in your mind. How we are sent this message in our minds by all of the photo shopping out there about what looks good and what doesn’t. The last line is really sad because it is often when many people grow up believing, ” Nobody will love you if your unattractive.”This is song is criticizing the way we have begun to think about our bodies because of our society and culture.

Oh Mrs. Potato Head tell me, is it true that pain is beauty?
Does a new face come with a warranty?
Will a pretty face make it better?
Oh Mr. Potato Head tell me
How did you afford her surgery?
Do you swear you’ll stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together
Even if her face don’t stay together

If you want a little more confidence
Potatoes turn to french fries, yeah it’s common sense
All you need’s a couple more condiments
And a hundred thousand dollars for some compliments
It’s such a waste
When little girls grow into their mothers face
But little girls are learning how to cut and paste
And pucker up their lips until they suffocate

” But little girls are learning how to cut and paste..” The problem is this is beginning to become a theme for younger and younger girls. It not longer is just the problem of late teens and adults worrying about the way they look. In modern times there is an epidemic of little girls wanting to replace their faces with that of the women they see on the cover of magazines. We really are all beginning to suffocate in this terrible, cruel way of hating what we see every day in the mirror because everyone tells us it is not the ideal form of beauty.

Kids forever kids forever
Baby soft skin turns into leather
Don’t be dramatic it’s only some plastic
No one will love you if you’re unattractive

Oh Mrs. Potato Head tell me, is it true that pain is beauty?
Does a new face come with a warranty?
Will a pretty face make it better?
Oh Mr. Potato Head tell me
How did you afford her surgery?
Do you swear you’ll stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together
Stay forever, stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together
Stay forever, stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together

Oh Mrs. Potato Head tell me, is it true that pain is beauty?
Does a new face come with a warranty?
Will a pretty face make it better?
Oh Mr. Potato Head tell me
How did you afford her surgery?
Do you swear you’ll stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together
Stay forever, stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together
Stay forever, stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together
Stay forever, stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together
Stay forever, stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together

Beauty is so much more then the shape of your nose or the smoothness of your skin. Beauty in fact does not have very much to do with these things at all.Beauty is centered in something that is essential to life. It has to do with the way we live and the way we love. It has to do with the way we carry ourselves and carry those who can’t carry themselves.Your body is a work of art that does not need to be cut and pasted. We all need to embrace out own uniqueness and then we would have a world where children grew up loving every inch of themselves, never hating what they saw in the mirror.

-Thank you ( Let me know your thoughts in the comments below)

-Wishing you the most beautiful of days, Eva
